In this article by masterful journalist Kent Williams, we reflect on the global nature of The Steve Bell Projects. Fortunately composers and musicians do need to subscribe to pathetic attempts to prescribe diversity; to tell people what their morals should be. By being active in life, pursuing what we love, we are linked to all kinds of people from everywhere. Music is a natural unifier.

For many producers, finding the perfect performer means looking close to home. For Australian songwriter and executive producer Steve Bell, the search begins with a simple question: Who is the right artist for the song? Geography comes a distant second.
That philosophy has become the hallmark of The Steve Bell Projects, a growing catalogue of original recordings featuring emerging musicians from around the world. Rather than building a career around his own performances, Bell prefers to work behind the scenes as a composer and executive producer, assembling talented artists whose individual strengths bring his songs to life.
“I’ve never believed great music is limited by postcode,” Bell says. “There are extraordinary musicians everywhere who simply need the opportunity to be heard.”
Among those artists is vocalist Tiara, whose captivating performances on Flower (2025), Back to California (2026) and In This World (2026) have become defining moments in the project’s evolution. Her distinctive voice and emotional delivery have transformed Bell’s compositions into recordings that resonate well beyond the studio.
Equally significant is guitarist Kris Nandharaj, whose sensitive playing has become an important part of the project’s sound. Alongside his memorable performances on Two of Us, No Words to Say (2025), and New Love (2026), Kris also provided the backing guitar on Tiara’s Flower and the acoustic accompaniment on Thumbelina, which was performed by Thai singer Jayaa, adding texture and musical warmth that perfectly complements each song.
For Bell, however, the music is only part of the story.
One of the central objectives of The Steve Bell Projects is to shine a spotlight on gifted but largely undiscovered artists, giving them an opportunity to showcase their abilities on professionally produced recordings. Bell believes that many exceptional musicians never receive the recognition they deserve—not because of a lack of talent, but because they lack access to meaningful recording opportunities.
By bringing together artists from different countries and musical backgrounds, he hopes to create more than just memorable songs. He wants to help build careers.
As The Steve Bell Projects continues to grow, it is becoming known not only for its international collaborations, but also for its commitment to championing fresh talent. In an industry often focused on established names, Steve Bell is quietly proving that with strong songs, thoughtful production and the right collaborators, tomorrow’s stars can emerge from anywhere in the world.
